For reports that require bibliographies, I recommend BibDesk for the Mac OS users. I don’t have a recommendation for windows users but I would be interested to hear about one. I have run into a problem where some of my older bibliographies are in MS Word using its reference database and retrieving those will be difficult. BibDesk stores the entries directly into bibtex format for direct use into LaTeX and it provides a nice interface similar to the MS Word one. It also has a function where if you have a bibtex entry you put in the computer memory “clipboard” from a database such as proquest etc, then if will make a the entry automatically. A real time saver.
